Premio ARQUITECTURAS 2006

International Architecture Award "COLOUR: a material for architecture"

Considering the success of the "Innovative Architectures: Design and sustainability" Award in 2005, Novelis has decided to sponsor also for this year the International Architecture Award "COLOUR: a material for architecture" advertised by Faenza Editrice through its architecture magazine “FRAMES - Architettura dei Serramenti”.
The aim of the competition is to highlight and reward the best architectural solutions which have adopted the colour for the technical or formal definition of the actual internal or external settings.

The competition is open to town planning projects and completed works involving colour, colour restorations, the building of contemporary buildings for any type of use, temporary structures or installations, scenography for special events, interior design, research and jobs involving the perception of colour, communication, chromo therapy and other architectural based applications, the introduction of environmental mitigation of products through the use of colour. The projects entered may apply colour through the use of any kind of material.

The award is of an international nature and is open to all designers and architects; it is split into sections with separate ratings:


To enter the competition, participants must complete the special form available at the website www.faenza.com.
Entry to the award is free and all entries will be accepted as from 3rd April 2006.
All entries must reach the organisation secretariat by midday on 1st December 2006.


The decisions of the panel of judges shall be made by January 30th, 2007. the results shall be notified to the winners by registered mail and divulged through the press and by means of a special prize-giving event. The winning projects and all those deserving a note of merit by the panel of judges shall be exhibited and presented to the public during the prize-giving ceremony to be staged on the occasion of the cultural events planned for SAIEDUE in March 2007. the organisers reserve the right to publish the works received in the trade press as well as compile a catalogue of the works received.





The panel of judges will award the following prizes:

SECTION 1: professional designer award

1st prize € 4.500
2nd prize € 2.500
3rd prize € 1.500

Furthermore, the panels of judges will award the NOVELIS plaque, with a special prize of € 500, for the most innovative employment of prepainted aluminium facing.

SECTION 2: student and institute award

1st prize € 2.000 to the student and a plaque to the institute
2nd prize € 1.000 to the student and a plaque to the institute
3rd prize € 500 to the student and a plaque to the institute
